30th Show was Hottest Ever!

We pray for good weather each year, hoping to avoid soggy conditions, but we certainly got more than we bargained for this year!

This year’s show was so varied in content, with things to appeal to everyone. Whether you prefer vintage cars and motorbikes, tractors and steam engines, alpacas, chickens and horses, oil paintings and watercolours, real ale, locally made beefburgers, homemade pies and breads, firing an arrow like Robin Hood.

Watching dogs race, cheering on one’s children in the egg and spoon and sack races, talking to woodturners and knitters, riding in Rolls Royces, checking out how straight the ploughmen’s furrows were, tossing balls at china teapots, enjoying listening to the music on the Manor lawn, smiling at the canine dog sit, admiring the beautiful Manor gardens, envying the skill of the growers of huge onions and the arrangements of flowers, the excellent fruit cakes and jams, the ingenious children’s vegetable animals, the real animals eager to parade in the arena, Teddy the Red Poll bull, old breeds of pigs and their piglets snuffling in the straw, blacknose Valais and Herdwick sheep, rarely seen anymore………

All these and much more assembled to entertain and educate, to amuse and astonish, to admire and contemplate, to ‘have a go’ and participate, to see that there are great opportunities to experience the ‘great outdoors’

The show encompasses so many people’s businesses and hobbies, their livelihoods and passions. They all enjoy discussing and are willing to share their enthusiasm with us, as many of you will have experienced,..

The show was originally started by the Countess of Warwick, who lived at Easton Lodge. This was sadly demolished in the 1950s, but her spirit lives on and one would like to think that she would recognise and be proud of what is really her legacy. Each year the show develops, with new activities and participants, but ultimately remains true to its roots, a country show

DID YOU…….enjoy this year’s show?

WOULD YOU……enter something for next year’s Show?

COULD YOU……help us out for a couple of hours?

WILL YOU…….come next year?
